Main amp is finished. Still 3 power supplies to be built out of 7. Madness. Weights a ton! Wife was close to heart attack when I brought the amp down to the sitting room… 🙂

Hi Ale,
It looks amazing. I wish I can be so neat on bread boarding as you are.
Can’t wait to hear listening impressions…
Hope that the sound of this amazing amp will make your wife happy:), it work well with mine.;)
Good luck on your final steps…
Best,
Radu
Thanks for your comments. Still have 3 power supplies to build and this is not very encouraging. I nearly hate by now the power supplies!
I hope it sounds as good as it looks and after all the hard work I wish it pays the effort invested!
Ale,
I totally understand the PSU issue. I wish I was closer to you, to be able to help:(
Are you going to have two separate enclosures, one for the amp and the other for PSU?
I am working on a parallel 4p1l( not sure yet how many in parallel, lots of dillemma and compromised) and I am going back and forth between monoblocks and stereo with separate PSU enclosure. Have to splitt some how the big weight, but also take care of mains EM influence on a SE amp.
What kind of psu connectors do you use( 5 pins one showed in the photo)? I have no experience related to type, quality or price. I would appreciate your recommandations.
Thanks,
Radu
Radu,
yes, multiple enclosures. As a breadboard it will be about 8 pieces! I don’t build single chassis anymore. I always split power supplies from amp/preamp for best performance.
4P1L PSE? Been there playing with it. Best choice! I will go for two 4P1L @ 40mA
Thanks Ale. Your reply raised my confidence in doing the right thing. I tried PSE, triplet and quartet, and my impression was that the duet sounded best. But there were too many variables during my experiments, so can’t be scientifically correct. PSE is tempting as the PSU needs, heat management, are reasonable low. It will be next Shiny Eyes SE.

Radu
