Merry Christmas!

It is so great to have another Christmas. It gives us an opportunity to wind down and spend proper time with our loves ones. The ones who are physically with us, and remember the ones who are no longer here, but still very present in our memories.

In fact, we all look forward to the holiday period to crack on with our projects. We all have a pile of endless projects and ideas and no better time than Christmas to start working on them.

I used to take proper time off between Christmas and New Year, now because of work, I can’t do that, so January is the time where I can disconnect from my daily responsibilities and work on these projects.

I can only be thankful for so many good things I have, truly. I can’t complain and will never do as I’m fortunate with everything I have and can do. In return I do the best I can, to return what I was given: a great opportunity.

This year was great in terms of audio. I managed to complete a fantastic MC RIAA stage, rebuild my 4P1L preamp, upgrade the 814 SE Amp and build the outstanding Starlight discrete DAC and CD transport

We usually look back at this time of the year, and I’m impressed with everything achieved. A lot of other minor projects were delivered which kept me busy during this year.

The best of all news is that I’m expecting a lovely baby girl that will arrive before May. We are very excited with her arrival. From an Audio perspective, it looks like my days of high-voltage breadboarding are over. Sadly, the 814 SE Amplifier will move to retirement when I get the 300B amp up and running.  Smaller and safer 🙂

There are plenty of projects in the list for this year including, 300B, new filament regulator tests (e.g. Tom Browne’s and Rod Coleman’s V5), Dave Slagle’s TVC, shunt cascode driver, 6C4C PP and 6P21S Schade feedback (a.ka. the return of “Robustiano”).

This and more will come, so excited about having a large list of project ahead!

I hope you have the opportunity to spend proper time with your loved ones. Merry Christmas to you all.

Ale

  2. HI,
Late happy holidays! I enjoy your blog!
I’m expecting a boy, around the same time as your girl.

Wrote to mention, your cartoons remind me of the old MS Messenger, which I really miss.. It had a drawing function.. You could select text to write messages, or select a drawing pane, to draw pictures. I used to draw pictures for all my friends, which were actually kind of similar to your cartoons. I rarely used the text function.
Sadly they removed the drawing, and a year later messenger was gone. From my perspective that’s the biggest step backwards ever. As everything in the world moves to touch screens and texting ,they remove the touch applicable drawing feature, and then the texting app all together.

But anyway, besides my down comment, I love your blog.

    1. Hi Scott,
Thank you for your comments. Just get yourself a Wacom table and keep drawing 🙂
I haven’t done a cartoon for a long time and after reading your comment ended up doing a quick sketch which I uploaded!
      cheers
      Ale
