Hi Ale, I might do my 26 Gyrator upgrade like this!
Hi Barry, yes. A very simple but yet effective way of building the preamp!
Hi Ale, Where are the usual stacks of Dale Resistors?
Hi Barry, I’m experimenting with different components this time. In this particular build I’ve changed the following:
1. Filament resistors are Vishay thick film.
2. Output capacitors are Mundorf Oil
3. Gyrator caps are MCAP supreme.
I’m playing with boutique components I have at hand in stock to test differences in sound. So far, I like a lot what I’m hearing.
To me the 01a it’s an unbeatable preamp 🙂
Cheers
Ale
Mudorf Silver Oil are one of my favourites, they are open & have great depth, I also like Jupiter & the Russian K40 Pio’s.
Hi Ale, I notice from Your Gen 2, 01a Preamp that it appears that Cap 3, 0.5 uf is no longer in the circuit, is this Capacitor no longer used in the later version?
Is a decoupling cap, primarily for HF. Not mandatory in my system and because I didn’t have the space I removed it on this build. I will leave in a 100-500nF cap if you can
